Division Mbarara Municipality.
The SRS gun is the third to be recovered by police in less than a month.
Police highly suspect the gun whose butt was cut to probably ease
movement had been kept in the bush for about three months.
The District Police Commander Mbarara Jaffer Magezi says one of the
guns recovered was grabbed from a police officer who was killed by
suspected Rwenzururu royal guards late last year in Kasese district.
Magezi who said that police are carrying out investigations into the
matter believes the gun belongs to one of the private security firms
to which he issued stern directives to deploy two guards at each
guarding point in order to minimize risks of having their guns
snatched by the robbers.
Last year Police in Mbarara recovered over 12 guns and most of them
were snatched by robbers from private security guards at night.
