Angry councilors of Ntungamo district anonymously passed a Motion to
investigate the Ushs 38 [Thirty eight million] allegedly paid to Ntungamo
district population officer Amwesiga Didas Mukuru to train unknown
school management committees across the district.
The accusations stem from findings of a finance committee report
during the council meeting held this week at Ntungamo
District council hall discovered that 38M shillings was release from the
District account to train school management committees in three
counties of Rushenyi, Kajara and Ruhaama.
This prompted councilors led by Muhumuza Deis Savimbi representing
Itojo sub county to task CAO Betunguura John to explain why the money
was released before approved by council, only to say that he does not
know the money and the ongoing training.
When chairman LCV Singahache Denis and RDC Justin Mababazi asked about
the trainings all boldly they noted that the trainings are illegal and
not known in the District.
Councilor Muhumuza, moved the motion to investigate the population on
grounds that he connived with some the district officers to swindle
the money that could be used to fund other stalled projects in the
The motion was supported by Mpeirirwe Naboth, the councilor for
Ntungamo Sub County and then the whole council.
while the MP Kajara county Timuzigu Micheal Kamugisha noted that
they must stand firm to curb the graft that is eating up the District
due to selfish interests of individuals.
