‘YOU STOLE OUR COUNCIL DOCUMENTS TO TAKE US TO COURT’—BUSHENYI MUNICIPAL COUNCILORS TELL OFF EMBATTLED ENG., TREASURER

By Ibrahim Zirimu

In Bushenyi.

www.mknewslink.com—

Three embattled staff members of Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality are accused of falsely accessing council documents which they presented in court in a petition against their interdiction.

In a council meeting held today 13th April 14, 2018, chaired by the speaker Mr. Milton Kasibure, it was confirmed that the three officials who were interdicted in the last council meeting, presented the previous minutes in court during their petition against the resolution of their interdiction.

Mr. Jackson Kamugasha the mayor Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality, expressed concern on how council documents reached in the court: “I need to inform you that the court documents received had attachments of minute extract, attendance list and minutes from the council. I wonder how they were accessed to be used.” Mayor Wondered.

The matter was also raised by Hon Jossy Nuwagaba councilor for Kyeitembe ward who tasked the town clerk, Mr. Edward Kiwanuka to explain how those documents reached to the court before they were even confirmed.

In defense, kiwanuka said that the petitioners are also members of the council so they can access the documents whenever they want to.

The defense was challenged by the council noting that the embattled trio are not members of the council but just staff of the council.

The speaker thus resolved that whoever released the council documents face displinary action.

The council also resolved that the duties of the officers in question be assigned to other officers though the resolution to interdict them can’t be implemented due a court order by the high court stopping the implementation of the resolution.

PANIC IN HOIMA AS CHIMPANZEE ATTACKS MAN

By Yosam Gucwaki
www.mknewslink.com—
In Hoima

Residents of Kihomboza III village, Bujumbura division Hoima municipality have expressed their concern about the increased attacks from wild animals which affect both their lives and crops.

This was after a chimpanzee attacked and bit one Sylvester Isagara 64; a resident of the same area which shares boarders with Wampanga forest reserve, as he tried to rescue children and he is now nursing serious wounds on his arm at his home.

Isagara narrates that, the incident happened on 2nd April 2018 as he was attending to his tobacco garden when he heard an alarm from children who were attacked by the ape and responded only to be bitten by the chimpanzees several times before they fled away.

He said that although he managed to rescue the children and saved his life, he has not resumed work since then due to severe pain thus tasking Uganda Wildlife Authority-UWA to compensate him.

Godfrey Winyi, also a resident, said that the Apes usually destroy their crops especially papaws, sugarcane, jackfruits among others.

Winyi, added that they no longer allow children or women to access water sources because the Apes have opened habitats in the trees found at natural water points.

Moses Semahunge, the project manager for Bulindi chimpanzee and community project said that they alerted Uganda World Life Authority about the people’s concern and they are waiting for response.

Semahunge however, attributed the attacks to increased deforestation thus creating competition for space, food, and shelter from chimpanzees.
This is not the first time people in Kihomboza being attacked by apes.

“YOU MUST BUY NATIONAL ID DETECTING GADGETS”-UCC MUTABAZI TELLS OFF TELECOM COMPANIES

By Wilber Muhwezi Kasibante
www.mknewslink.com
In Bushenyi–
The executive director Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Eng. Godfrey Mutabazi has insisted that no Telecom Company will be allowed to give out new sim cards unless they purchase National ID detecting gadgets.
He said this today 12th March 2018 during an exclusive phone interview with the managing directormknewslink.com.
Eng Mutabazi said that UCC gave telecom companies enough time thus insisting that there is no excuse.
Early this year, UCC issued a directive which required all telecom companies to be in possession of national identity card detectors and barred all street vendors from selling sim cards and airtime cards.
The directive was issued as measure to reduce on crimes such as kidnapping and theft which are often committed using phones after a ruthless kidnap and murder of the late Susan Magara.
Telecom companies have expressed their dissatisfaction with the directive, noting that since it was issued, great losses have been registered.
Some managers of telecom companies, told mknewslink.com that their companies are now at standstill because they have been earning a lot from the sale of sim cards and replacements.
However, the directive did not only affect telecom companies but also individuals who don’t have National Identity cards.
