The president of republic of Uganda president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
attributed the increased porverty rates to poor family planning, poor management of financial donations and undermining of jobs among youth.
The president said this on Sunday 14th April 16, 2018 while handing in items and cash worth billions of shillings to 142 groups of people in Rukungiri district to help them to fight poverty at a function held at the
Rukungiri municipality main stadium in Rukungiri municipality.
The items donated include; cash worth over ug shs two
billion (2B), motorcycles, cars, a tractor, carpentry machines, tents, chairs, garage equipment and motor vehicle spare parts among others.
President Museveni, noted that over ug shs 5B is donated every year for poverty eradication but people don’t make proper use of it living them in poverty.
He however clarified that the donation wasn’t government money but from his own pocket.
He thus appealed to people to make use of district councils and embrace government projects such as operation wealth creation, youth livelihood projects, women entrepreneurship funds among others.
