Two people have been shot dead after reportedly being found stealing timber from Modern Laminates, a wood factory in Njeru Division, Buikwe District.
The deceased have been identified as Kiwanuka Kakeeto, 48, and Muzamiru Kambugu, 45.
Reports indicate that a security guard deployed by Accurate Security Services shot the two after finding them stealing logs.
Eyewitnesses say, the guard shot them at close range.
The security guard has been arrested while the two bodies were taken to Jinja Hospital Mortuary.
However, Mubarak Batte, the area councilor said it is unlikely that the two were stealing timber from the factory.
Some residents condemned the shooting saying the security guard rushed to pull the trigger since the two men were not trying to escape from the premises.
Buikwe District Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr Emmanuel Mitala confirmed the arrest of the security guard and called for a review of all security companies and the criteria they use to recruit their guards.
