BUSHENYI CIVIL SOCIETY DECRIES DETERIORATING HEALTH, DEMAND HOSPITAL

Civil society organizations (CSO) have tasked the Bushenyi local government to construct a hospital in the district so as to improve on the health standards.
The organizations represented by Apollo lee Kakonge of West Ankole civil society forum during a budget conference held on Thursday by the district at the Bushenyi multipurpose hall, noted that there is no hospital in the district and that this has crippled the health of the area.
In their presentation, the organizations that included Red Cross Uganda, rotary club of Bushenyi, West Ankole Civil Society Forum-WACSOF, Reproductive Health Uganda among others stressed that even the health centres present lack drugs adding that those who cannot manage private treatment end up dying.
The CSOs noted that there is a need to introduce school feeding programmes in both primary and secondary schools because students spend the whole day on empty stomachs which affect their learning process negatively.
The health sector a requested for a vehicle, construction of staff accommodation, increase on external collaboration for improved sector funding so that it can become easy for them do their duties.
