AFTER THREE YEARS IN OFFICE, MBARARA CITY TOWN CLERK BOWS OUT, SENT TO MBALE

Mbarara city town clerk Assy Abireebe Tumwesigire has today, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, officially handed over office to his successor Justine Barekye after three years of service to the city.
Abireebe who was posted to Mbarara city in 2022 was last month posted to Mbale city to serve in the same capacity. He has been replaced by Justine Barekye who has been the town clerk of Soroti city for the past six months.
In his farewell speech, Abireebe commended the city’s political leadership and the technical team for the team work that made it possible for the development of Mbarara city.
He explained that the city has been able to enhance its local Revenue which in turn is boosting development.
Abireebe noted that revenue collection has been revamped over time from the period he was posted to Mbarara city from UGX3B in the financial year 2020/2021 to UGX7B in the 2023/2024 financial year.
In her acceptance remarks, Justine Barekye, the new city town clerk requested the city political leaders and the technical team to work together towards further and continuous development of Mbarara city.
Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi, the mayor of Mbarara city, praised the outgoing city town clerk for his contributions to the development of Mbarara as a city.
He told the new city town clerk that Mbarara city, being one of the rapidly growing among all the new cities, she should expedite her work to meet the increasing demand for services.
Akim Twinamatsiko, the Assistant Resident City Commissioner for Mbarara City South, pledged to collaborate with the new town clerk to advance the development of Mbarara City.
