MAN ELECTROCUTED IN MOTHER’S GARDEN

A 39-year-old man has been electrocuted in Bunyonyi, Kabale Municipality and died on spot while working in his mother’s garden.
The deceased is identified as Tukwasibwe Ovani who has been a resident of Bufuka Village, Mwendo Parish, Kitumba Sub- County which is located 7 kilometers from Kabale town.
He was found lifeless in the garden.
According to Loyce Turyahumura Owembabazi alis Nyiga, the chairperson of Bufuka Village, the tragic incident occurred at around 11:38am.
Tukwasibwe had gone to clear bushes in the garden when he accidentally touched a support wire from an electric pole that had fallen to the ground. The wire was live, causing fatal electrocution.
Turyahumura added that UMEME workers visited the scene but left without providing any communication to the deceased’s family.
The late Tukwasibwe is survived by his pregnant wife and three children.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate, confirmed the incident stating that the police were alerted, visited and documented the scene, and a postmortem was done at the scene.
The body was later handed over to the family for burial.
