NTUNGAMO DISTRICT EXECUTIVE USES 90M WITHOUT COUNCIL APPROVAL

Ntungamo District officials are on spot for diverting 90M meant for Water Drilling Projects.
This was meant to work Nyarwanya production wells that use solar from Kanyehunde to Nyarwanya in Rubare Sub County and other to Kizinga in Ngoma Sub County. The money was released last financial year.

According to Councilor for Rubare Sub County John Kabeho during the council sitting when he tried to consult the Executive, it was revealed that the process came on halt saying that during the financial Year 2022-2023 they received little money for the two projects of only 43M of which 25m was used at first to find out the water source in those two areas

The Chairperson water and works Aidha Kebirungi who doubles as Councilor Nyamunuka and Bwongyera Sub County narrated how money was not enough to drill water due to some technicalities as Rubare Lacks water source.

She further stated that when the Executive was almost transferring money to the treasury, the District Executive and chairman identified where there was a need of water in Ruhama Sub County where it was used to build two tanks one at Ruhama secondary School and Rwikiniro sub county

She said that the said amount was for quarter four which is not common and that’s why they diverted the money as the financial year was almost ending in June only that they diverted without approval of the council.
