OMUSINGA MUMBERE MOURNS LONGEST SERVING ROYAL GUARD

Omusinga Charles Mumbere yesterday evening mourned his longest serving royal guard.
The 86 years old late Zakaliya Bwambale Sonderya was among the royal guards who were arrested 27-sep-2016 when government raided the palace of Charles Mumbere in Kasese .
In the Omusinga’s message presented by the Prime Minister OBR Gard Mbayahi, he described the late as an obedient, hardworking, trustworthy and disciplined person who sacrificed his entire life to the kingdom.
Mumbere added that as a child he met the late Zakalia in 1963 when he was in charge royal guard training and royal hats.
Mariam Muhindo the daughter of late Zakalia told www.mknewslink.com that her late father spent all his entire life working for the kingdom.
Mariam added that her father was arrested together with his grandson Julius Muhindo who was in charge of grazing goats at the palace.
Mariam pleaded with government to pardon his son because he is still young to deserve such punishment.
Gard Mbayahi the acting PM said that currently there are over 200 prisoners in various prisons in the country with the majority in Kirinya prison
The political leaders from Kasese lashed at government for taking long to kick start court hearings.
The late Zakalia is now the fourth royal guard who has died from prison following late Bagheni, Bosco and Micdad all buried in Kasese.
The late Zakalia was laid to rest yesterday evening at Kanyatsi cell in Kinyamaseke town council in Kasese district.
