Emmanuel Karasi the leader of the dissatisfied Christians over the 11th synod which was held on 12th March has decided to run to court after the archbishop Stephen Kazimba failed to solve their matters.
Yesterday 19th may 2022 Karasi’s lawyers Tumwebaze, Atugonza and Kobusingye advocates from Kampala wrote an intention to sue on behalf of Karasi and Christians of west Ankole diocese in regard to the illegal synod that took place 12th March.
The Christians allege that the two chapters of Mbarara and Kampala were not allowed to have representatives in the synod because it is against the canons of the church and the constitution of west Ankole.
Emmanuel Karasi petitioned the Archbishop after the formation of the 11th synod on grounds that they had included the two chapters, the chancellor had been nominated by one of the members instead of the bishop.
The petition also noted that some of the members were not supposed to vote including the Member of Parliament for Buhweju west Biraaro Ganshanga the Bishop’s nominee who has two wives.
Extra ordinary synod is sitting today 19th May 2022 at Bweranyangi cathedral to discuss the amendment of the constitution of the Church of Uganda. Members have however vowed to also discuss Karasi’s issue even if it is not on the agenda.
