Three people were killed on sunday morning in a head-on collision along the Kazo-Rushere Road, near Kazo Community Hospital.
The crash involved a motorcycle, registration number UFY 060Q, carrying three people who died instantly, and a double-cabin pickup, registration number UBJ 801W.
Kazo district police identified the deceased as Niclas Tusingwire,18, (the rider of the motorcycle)and Jova Akampurira, 26, both from Kaikoti, Kikatsi in Kiruhura district, and Macklean Gumoshabe, 32, from Ruhama, Ntungamo district — all of whom were on the motorcycle.
The pickup driver, identified as Steven Noowe Kirimani, 54, of Karisizo in Kazo town council, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Ruhoko hospital in ibanda district for treatment.
Eyewitnesses blamed the crash on over speeding by the motor vehicle driver.
Kazo district police commander SP Joseph Nsabimaana confirmed the accident was a head-on collision and that the bodies of the deceased were taken to Ruhoko hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
