The crown for supremacy between girls and boys in national examinations has been won by girls at Pearly Junior school in Bushenyi district in the 2024 primary leaving examinations (PLE).
Girls who sat for the examinations last year at the school beat boys in the examinations results released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
Out of 90, the total number of candidates who sat for PLE at Pearl Junior, 47 girls passed in division one while only 27 boys passed in the same grade.
Whereas only 11 girls managed the second division, just five boys appeared in the same grading.
The results saw the school registering 74 pupils in the first grade and only 16 in second grade. The school did not register any pupil who failed the national examinations.
Lenny Percy, the school’s headmaster attributed the excellent performance to the teachers’ dedication towards the pupils coupled with the candidates hard working in and outside the classroom.
