Bishop of Ankole Diocese;Rt.Rev.Dr.Sheldon Fred Mwesigwa has dismissed allegations that he has assisted president Yoweri Museveni to change his date of birth.
The 73 year old President Yoweri Museveni
In a telephone exclusive interview with the www.mknewslink.com managing editor yesterday, bishop Mwesigwa said the president visited Kinoni Archdeaconry in July with an intention to establish the date when he was baptized but not when he was born.
He says it was clearly found out that the president was baptized in 1947 when he was 2years and 11 months old meaning that he was born in 1944 and by the year 2021 he will be 77 years old. This means if the presidential age limit is not removed from the constitution of Uganda, Museveni will not be eligible to contest for another term in the office.
Daily Monitor reporter; Felix Ainebyoona who witnessed Museveni’s visit at Kinoni Archdeaconry, wrote a story saying that the president’s visit was mainly to establish the date of his birth and it was found that he was baptized in 1947 when he was 2years and 11 months old.
Museveni’s visit at Kinoni Archdeaconry in July sparked allegations in social media and public that he was intending to change the date of his birth and stand for another term in 2021.
When asked about Museveni’s plans to give him lawyers to sue media houses who defamed his name, Mwesigwa said he is not interested in court cases.
After people attacked Bishop Mwesigwa on different social media plat forms accusing him of being bribed by Museveni, he wrote a comprehensive report in The New vision, explaining that the president’s intention of visiting Kinoni archdeaconry was about nothing else but to establish when he was baptized.
Different media houses, social media platforms and political panelists on fm radio stations alleged that president Museveni bribed the bishop of Ankole diocese to change his date of birth such that he can rule for life.
