Police in Kabale has in detention three men suspected to have been part of a gang that has been murdering and robbing people in the western region.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman identifies the suspects as Edison Asimwe, Martin Byaruhanga and Benson Katureebe.
Maate says police acting on intelligence information on the 25th August 2018 arrested the trio.
He says a search was conducted at Asiimwe’s home in Maziba sub county in which a gun registration number UG PS 03402253-07135 with 12 rounds of ammunition were recovered, together with two pairs of uniform, one belonging to UPDF and the other to Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Police found upon interrogation that Asiimwe has been behind the wave of the robberies that have been taking place in Kabale, including a recent one in which a supermarket owner was robbed at gunpoint of Shs 6million at his home.
Maate says that police has commenced investigations on the case registered at Kabale police station
