The electoral Commission in Ibanda district has to day nominated Peter Agaba as an Independent candidate after the High Court in Kampala issued an order clearing him to be nominated at the district registrar’s offices in Ibanda district.
In his ruling the High Court Judge, Justice Ssekaana Musa ruled that Peter Agaba should be nominated as he has all genuine academic documents.
The electoral commission in Ibanda district failed to nominate on 6 June saying that his academic papers were not sufficient.
Agaba flanked by his supporters was nominated at 1.40 pm in an exercise that was presided over by Ibanda District registrar Tolbert Musinguzi.
Police was deployed at the electoral commission offices to keep peace and order as jubilant supporters remained in the compound waiting so long under the sun shine.
Agaba lost to Tarsis Rwaburindoore in the NRM primaries but decided to run as independent.
However, Musinguzi said that Agaba was not nominated on 5th June because he did not present his A’ level academic documents to the electoral commission.
