The chairman board Muhame financial services Rev. Can. Kankiriho has called upon the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to allow SACCOs withdraw and save parish development model funds.
Rev. Can. Kankiriho noted that SACCOs are closer to parishes than government commercial banks which are based in big towns.
He added that the president should revisit the decision and channel the money through SACCOs instead of government.
Rev. Kankiriho said this yesterday during the 100th international cooperative anniversary held at Kabwohe stadium, Sheema district.
The chief guest was the president who was represented by the minister of trade, industry and cooperatives Francis Mwebesa.
The main funders of the function were Muhame financial services and Ankole Coffee Producers Cooperative Union.
Kyamuhunga people’s SACCO board and management handed over a gift to the representative of the president Francis Mwebesa.
Greater Bushenyi has a high number of most active and vibrant SACCOs in Uganda because prof. Kamuntu pitched camp in the district and helped many SACCOs to start when he was a consultant with United Nations Development Programme.
Some of the SACCOs that he helped to start are; KYAPS, Muhame, Mushanga, Shuuku, Bugongi and others.
