1057 PUPILS FAIL MOCK EXAMS IN MASINDI DISTRICT

At least 1,057 pupils in Masindi district failed mock exams in the year 2023.
According to Joseph Isingoma, the district sports officer, 3,086 pupils were registered for the primary leaving examination for the academic year 2023.
1,057 pupils were ungraded while 52 missed, 291 passed in first grade, 843 passed in division two, 383 in third grade and 456 passed in division four.
Officially releasing the exams at the educational hall on Friday afternoon, Isingoma explained that the pass rate was at 64% stressing that though the results are above average, they are not still pleasing since their pass rate PLE 2022 was 88%.
He said there is a need to always set targets at the beginning of the academic year to help them get directions and also work towards what they need to achieve.
The Masindi district senior education officer, Adolf Kato asked head teachers and teachers to prepare and plan for the next academic year and ensure the syllabus is covered within time to create space for revision, discussion and group work.
He also asked head teachers to improve the working relationship with the teachers and the parents, noting that this will improve the academic performance of learners.
The Chairperson of Masindi district head teachers association, Byoona Nteiraho said that they are going to start setting standard exams from primary four to seven to enable them to assess learners and this will be done at a small fee of 1500/= per learner.
