Police in Kanungu district are investigating circumstances under which a 17 year old girl was allegedly murdered.
The deceased is Mackline Tushemereirwe aged 17years a resident of lraro village in Buhoma town council in Kanungu district.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate narrated that the matter was reported at Butogota Police station by Twaibu Gasiba, a teacher and resident of Butogota Upper cell, Western Ward in Butogota Town Council.
Maate said that Twaibu Gasiba was yesterday morning coming from checking on his gardens when he saw a dead body.
Maate told www.mknewslink.com reporter that the deceased’s body was recovered in a coffee plantation, lying in a pool of blood from her private parts.
It’s alleged the deceased had gone to visit the boyfriend who is suspected to have killed her and thereafter threw the body in a coffee plantation and believed to be a sex worker in Kanungu
Maate said that the Police visited the scene, retrieved the body and took it for postmortem examination.
He added that the suspected boyfriend who is said to have been with her but whose names he declined to reveal has been arrested to help in investigations.
The deceased was found with minor injuries at the forehead and was bleeding from her private parts an indication that she could have been raped and murdered later.
A case of suspected murder was registered at Kanungu Central Police Station under reference number CRB 431/2021 to help in further investigations.
