In Buliisa—
Four people including a Kenya trailer driver yesterday afternoon perished in a nasty road accident along Hoima – Wanseko road in Buliisa district.
The Waaki East Village LC1 Chairperson Geofrey Ukumu told our reporter that the incident happened at Waaki bridge.
”The trailer ferrying a container failed to negotiate the sharp corner at the river hence knocking two road users on spot and then rammed into the Waaki river waters,” he said.
The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza confirmed the incident and identified the deceased persons as Abdul Ahmed, a Kenyan trailer driver, Ahmed Deoho, a Kenya passenger and Munguromo Boy 25, a pedestrian and a resident of Waaki East Parish Kihungya Sub County in Buliisa district.
Hakiza said they are yet to identify another person who was riding a Bajaj boxer registration number UFS 150D.
”They all died on the spot, we suspect the brake failure to be the main cause of the nasty accident,” he said.
According to the police mouthpiece, the accident involved a trailer registration number KBJ 426K {front}, ZE 0752 {behind} and a Bajaj motorcycle registration number UFS 150D.
Hakiza told our reporter that they have already evacuated the bodies of the deceased to Buliisa General Hospital for postmortem.
”The trailer and the motorcycle have also been conveyed to Buliisa Central Police Station,” he added.
