2 MBARARA CITY SERVICE COMMISSION MEMBERS GRANTED BAIL

Two Mbarara City Service Commission officials; Edward Karugaba and Lubega.M.Kazooba have been granted bail.
The magistrates court on Monday granted bail of 3million per official. Court had on 4th.Sept.2023 remanded the duo to Mbarara main prison after they were charged with abuse of office ,corruption and extortion.
The court heard that between January and April 2023,while at Mbarara City council,the two suspects unlawfully solicited money from desperate job applicants by promising them employment opportunities.
On Monday the suspects appeared in the court presided over by Mbarara Chief Magistrate Andrew Kabombo who granted them a non cash bail of shs.3 million and non-cash of 10million for each surety.
The court proceedings started at 2:00Pm and ended at 3:40Pm as the lawyer of the accused person, Moreen Kyomugisha of Zehurikirize and Co.Advocates tussled out with the state prosecutors.
Sureties of Lubega.K.Kazooba were his brother Safari Innocent Katarihera a resident of Nyakakoni cell A,Rukindo ward in Mbarara City south, and the Branch manager National water and Sewerage Coporation Manasseh Matsiko a resident of Nyakiziba cell, Kakiika ward while Denise Muheirwe a resident of Kakoba central Cell , Kakoba ward in Mbarara City south and Aisha Nabukera stood surety for Edward Karugaba.
The magistrate ordered them to return to court on September,27th.2023 at 9am.
