20 HOIMA REFERRAL HOSPITAL STAFF BATTLE WITH COVID 19

Twenty health workers from Hoima Regional Referral Hospital are battling for their lives after contracting covid19 virus.
This has caused limited health personnel attending to COVID19 patients at the facility’s Covid19 Treatment Unit.
Paul Ajuk, the Senior Administrator at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital says the pandemic as posed a threat to the frontliners.
According to him, the facility is facing acute shortage of Covid19 drugs adding that they are currently advising patients’ relatives to buy from private facilities.
Currently, Hoima Regional Hospital is only offering Oxygen support to patient. On Saturday, four patients succumbed to covid19 pandemic at the unit.
Ajuk says they have submitted their requests to Uganda Medical Stores requesting for drugs and they expect deliveries soon.
Dr. Joseph Ruyonga, the Hoima west legislature and former district Health Officer however asks the public to adhere to the revised guidelines saying it’s the best way of preventing covid19 spread.
By Sunday evening, Hoima district has cumulatively registered 789 cases of covid19 infections. Over 30 patients are admitted at the Covid19 Treatment Unit on oxygen.
