20 YEAR OLD COMMITS SUICIDE IN RUBANDA DISTRICT TO ESCAPE ACCUSATIONS OF THEFT

Police in Rubanda district are currently investigating circumstances under a 20 year old man committed suicide in an avocado tree in Nyakabungo village, Kashekye parish, Ruhija town council in the Rubanda district.
ASP Afande Elly Maate the Kigezi Region police spokesperson identified the deceased as Biryomumeisho Brian male aged 20years old,a mukiga by tribe, a peasant, a resident of Nyakabungo village, Kashekye parish, Ruhija town council in the Rubanda district.
ASP Maate confirmed that on the 18/01/2023, the deceased was accused of stealing a sheep from one Fukusabe in whose farm the deceased used to work . When his mother identified as Nshekanabo Christine aged 47years asked him about it, he denied the allegation and threatened to commit suicide.
Maate revealed that On 20/01/2023 at around 09:00am, he told his mother that he wants to go and work in Kanungu and she packed him some clothes. To her surprise, on the 21/01/2023 at 0600hrs she saw him hanging by a rope around his neck on an avocado tree next to their house.
Scene was visited by a team of police led by the DCIDO D/Asp Aine, Soco D/C Saturday Sebastian and a medical doctor who performed post mortem at the scene. Exhibits recovered from the scene and statements recorded from witnesses while Inquiries are still ongoing.
He added that investigationd have commence to ascertain the likely cause of the suicide by hanging as the case was registered at Rubanda Central Police Station under reference number CRB 025/2023
