THERE ARE A LOT OF COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS IN UGANDA’S MARKETS—ESKOM OFFICIAL

The Commissioner Energy Efficiency and Conservation department in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral development James Baababe Isingoma has called upon education institutions to involve themselves in Energy sustainability and efficiency so that they can help to reach out other communities.
Isingoma made the remarks during the official opening of Energy sustainability and Efficiency exhibition that is ongoing at the Independence Park in Mbarara town today where different exhibitors are exhibiting different power saving equipments.
Isingoma said that people in local communities use a lot of energy while conducting their day today work like cooking, lighting, among others whereby it can be reduced but they lack information on how they can do it therefore says that is education institutions come in they can help to sensitize them.
The technical manager Eskom one of the organizers of the exhibitions says that the biggest challenge is counterfeit and substandard products therefore he calls upon Uganda National Bureau of Standards to come in and he appeals to consumers to always be kin to seals and stickers which show that the product is tested and cleared
for consumption.
