The Commissioner Energy Efficiency and Conservation department in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral development James Baababe Isingoma has called upon education institutions to involve themselves in Energy sustainability and efficiency so that they can help to reach out other communities.

Isingoma made the remarks during the official opening of Energy sustainability and Efficiency exhibition that is ongoing at the Independence Park in Mbarara town today where different exhibitors are exhibiting different power saving equipments.

Isingoma said that people in local communities use a lot of energy while conducting their day today work like cooking, lighting, among others whereby it can be reduced  but they lack information on how they can do it therefore says that is education institutions come in they can help to sensitize them.

The technical manager Eskom one of the organizers of the exhibitions says that the biggest challenge is counterfeit and substandard products therefore he calls upon Uganda National Bureau of Standards to come in and he appeals to consumers to always be kin to seals and stickers which show that the product is tested and cleared

for consumption.

Police in fort portal is holding Kisomoro sub county speaker over defilement allegations.

The DPC Kabarole Musa Tibakirana said the suspect was arrested from Kisomoro  this week and was taken to Kibiito police station where he was later transferred to Fort-Portal police station  yesterday evening.

The DPC said that in June this year the suspect had unlawful sexual intercourse with a 16 year old girl and its alleged that the suspect has been using the girl and had impregnated her but aborted.

Tibakirana identified the suspect as Geoffrey Mugabo 22 a resident of Busiita village, in kicucu parish who is also the sub-county speaker for Kisomoro sub-county in Bunyangabu county Kabarole district.

Police told reporters that the victim is a S.3 student at Kibiito girls’ secondary school in Kabarole district.

Talking to www.mk newslink.com reporter yesterday evening, DPC Kabarole district revealed that Mugabo will be charged with defilement and taken to court after investiations.
