Ankole rival prince, Asiimwe warns on Ankole kingdom property
members of the Ankole cultural trust to stop tempering with the
kingdom properties.
Addressing the media at his official residence in Kasese municipality
on Wednesday morning prince Asiimwe said that members of Ankole
cultural trust want to sell of the land belonging to the defunct
kingdom and that some people have already been served with eviction
notices.
He said that he his team has already petitioned the president because
Ankole cultural trust which is chaired by William Katatumba has no
mandate of running the affairs of the kingdom.
He said that his group is ready to go sue Ankole cultural trust if
they don’t stop infearing with the kingdom property mainly land.
“Those people are very greedy they want to sell off everything but I
will not allow that because some people are already being intimidated
with notices to leave the land that is very bad that land is not for
an individual or a group its land for the people of Ankole,” said
Asiimwe.
He opposed the move by a section of members of Ankole cultural trust
to turn Kamukuzi kingdom headquarters into a museum says that Ankole
has enough land for the construction of a museum.
Prince Asiimwe who has been agitating for the restoration of Ankole
kingdom said that all people currently occupying the kingdom land
should be left because it is their right.
“I don’t want people to be harassed because of some few individuals
who want to sell off the land let people settle and carry out economic
activities which will boast the income earning,” added Asiimwe.
However some members of Ankole cultural trust accuse the Asiimwe
section of opposing their move of developing the kingdom land.
“This land has been idle for centuries with no any development now
that we need to get investors Asiimwe and his group are blocking us,”
said Francis Mwesigwa.
He said that Asiimwe and his group are visiting every district holding
crusades with an aim of failing Ankole cultural trust.
“If Asiimwe is a king let him concentrate on his cultural
responsibilities and leave us develop the kingdm land because we don’t
have any mission of selling the land in Kamukuzi,” added Mwesigwa.
He said that Asiimwe was in secret meetings with the government to
give out part of the kingdom land in Itaba Kyabanyoro in Mbarara
district.
Recently William Katatumba the chairman of Ankole cultural trust told
the media that price Asiimwe and his group are saboteurs who want to
cripple developments.
