A 16 year old boy from Bushuro village Bushuro parish in Kabale district
has only a month to live, if he does not raise 100million shillings
needed for urgent kidney transplant in India.
Merecxadic Nasasira was diagnosed with the kidney disease 9 months
ago. The organ function quickly deteriorated, damaging both his
kidneys.
Dr Emmanuel Mfitundinda at Kabale regional referral hospital begun
treatment soon after he was diagnosed with a lupus condition, but the
condition continues to worsen. Lupus causes damage to organs and can
affect the skin, brain, heart, kidneys.
Dr. Mfitundinda explains that the disease has reached a life
threatening level and doctors have to remove urine and other excessive
fluids using machines, what is medically known as dialysis. He also
says dialysis can only be done at Mbarara referral hospital and Mulago
National referral hospital.
Nasasira cannot live without dialysis and is afraid that if he fails
to raise the money the kidney transplant within a month, he may die.
Proscovia Natukunda who is a sister to Nasasira says that they are total
orphans. She says that they failed to even to raise five million for
dialysis at Mulago Hospital.
She is worried that Nasasira illness is becoming critical, yet
the family cannot raise enough funds for the transplant.
Nasasira is appealing to the public to support her raise the
100million shillings to facilitate his transport to India, surgery and
accommodation for the donor and medics
