LIVE BULLETS, TEARGAS ROCK KABALE UNIVERSITY AS STUDENTS AND LECTURERS STAGE VIOLENT STRIKE
Teargas and live bullets have rocked Kabale University as police
battled to foil with a demonstration by students and lecturers.
The students went on rampage this morning carrying placards demanding
for immediate resignation of the Vice chancellor Prof Joy Kwesiga
accusing her of mismanaging the university.
this semester, they do not have toilets and the health unit has been
closed since the semester began yet they contribute 20,000shillings
each for the same facility.
failed to clear due to disorganization that is in the university and
the guild cabinet has not been paid for the last five months.
The lecturers who were on strike, said that they decided to strike
because they have spent eight months without pay.
However when they reached at Kikungiri church of Uganda, police that
was led by the Kabale district filed force Unit commander Henry
Kisembo fired teargas which forced students to disperse. The teargas
also rocked Rock high school and students and teachers were seen
crying.
because students had started turning violent yet they thought it was
peaceful.

charge of finance Prof Allen Babugura, he declined to comment on
matter.
