At least 42 employees of Ntungamo district local government are yet to be submitted to the district service commission for disciplinary action after they have reportedly been out of duty for a long period without explanation.

The workers include 17 health workers both clinical and support staff including 5 clinical officers who have been manning several government health centers in the district.

The Ntungamo deputy chief administrative officer Mr. John Betungura says most of the staff submitted for disciplinary are those who were transferred at the beginning of June but have never reported to their duty stations and never picked their transfer letters from the district.

He says the cases shall first be heard by the sanctions and rewards committee to defend temserves. Some of the sanctioned have fake papers while others have not been at stations for over three months.

25 on the list are teachers who also include 1 head teacher and two deputy head teachers.

Speaking today at the district technical planning committee meeting at the council hall, Betungura said many staffs found to be failing service delivery will be laid off to have new staff who can take the district to another level.
