Farmers in Ibanda district over the weekend   received a new drug dubbed Tixfix acaricide which is used in killing ticks in cows, goats, pigs, sheep and dogs.
The chair person Ultravetis company Mr. Wasiira Moreidi gave out the drug to the farmers last Friday  in Ibanda district and advised farmers  to embrace the new product on market as one way of controlling ticks.
He added that Tixfix is an acaricide that has been tested for veterinary use only for  spraying  only against ticks, mange, mites and lice on cattle, sheep, goat and pigs.
“the drug  acaricides has been  used  in countries  like  Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia and South Sudan and many farmers in Uganda have welcomed the idea  to use the drug to fight the East Coast fever in cattle;”
“ the purpose of the workshop is to   bring  awareness to  livestock farmers and discuss with them about the acaricides and know how to use it.” Wasiira added.

 
Mr. Tuni Robert one of the manufacturers of Tixfix under Ultravetis Company in Kenya partnering with Rotam Company, he said that this acaricides is of a higher efficacy and does not irritate animals. He added that TIXFIX acaricide is one of the most important ectoparasites in the farm, affordable to all classes of people and environmental friendly among other acaricides.

The Ibanda district resident commissioner has sounded a strong warning to the media and political activists to stop making unnecessary utterances when hosted at different media houses, a thing which he said can cause unrests in the society.
Mr. Eliasto Akatuheebwa added that some political talk shows which are aired on different Televisions and radios in western Uganda are always geared at creating awareness amongst the people and also address political issues but they have instead created divisionism and confusion among the members of the public.
“……mostly councilors, they are supposed to address their issues during the council meetings but not through political talk shows on radio and Tv’s.” Eliasto fumed.

He said this on Tuesday while addressing journalists in his office at Kitwe hill in Ibanda Municipal council.
He advised some leaders not to go beyond their boundaries because at times their talk under mines the district which even impedes investors from investing in the district. He ended by threatening that if the current continues, he will be forced the drag the culprits to the disciplinary and subsequently be taken to court for the law to take its course.

The Ntungamo District woman MP Hon. Beatrice Rwakimaari has expressed dismay over the corruption and shoddy work that is eating up the district saying it has frustrated Ntungamo to transform into middle income status.

According to Hon. Rwakimaari the district will not take any step forward unless civil servants and political leaders are transparent, accountable and able to play their roles diligently without accusing each other.

She made the remarks yesterday 24.10.2016 during the Ntungamo District Budget and planning conference for financial year 2017/2018 held in the District council Hall.

Hon. Rwakimaari was not happy found out that the Ntungamo district failed to utilize government funds where 109m shillings was returned to the treasury when the district is failing to extend service delivery to the public.

She blamed this to political leaders who fail to cooperate with civil servants to plan and monitor for government programs noting that as MPs they will not lobby for other funds when they are failing to put in use the resources in the district.

Hon Rwakimaari also tasked all duty bearers to curb the rampant school drop outs due to early marriages and teenage pregnancies which may hamper government target of girl child education.

In his response, the RDC Ntungamo Justine Mbabazi challenged all civil servants to work together and show the value of money while implementing the government projects or risk losing the jobs.

RDC Mbabazi also asked local leaders to respect each other and monitor projects in the areas of their jurisdiction to eliminate shoddy work citing 5 stance Pit latrine in Omungyenyi.

The Chairman LCV Ntungamo Denis Singahache appealed to all stakeholders to forget the past and work for the unity and development of the district in abid to attract more income generating projects.

Singahache assured them that the district is to revamp communal work commonly known as Burung Bwansi for the betterment of the district to reduce on expenditure.
