INSPECTORS OF SCHOOLS KILLING EDUCATION—UNATU’S TWEHEYO
BY ELLY NYESIGA
IN MBARARA—-
General Secretary of Uganda National Teachers Union James Tweheyo has blamed deteriorating education in Uganda to inspectors of Schools starting from the ministry of education up to the district level.
Speaking to the Journalists in Mbarara Tweheyo said that Inspectors of schools no longer visit schools to find out what takes place and what is needed in schools so that they can compile a report to the government for it to address the challenges.
Tweheyo says that these inspectors lack passion for their Jobs as most of them have excuses of lacking transport to inspect the schools which he said that some of the schools are nearby them which does not need transport to reach there.
He calls for the ministry to work with UNATU to know what is perturbing the schools since most of the teachers now report to the Union therefore when they work together the government will get quick feed backs as far as education sector is concerned.
