A SEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL DEFILED INFECTED WITH HIV/AIDS

IN RUKUNIRI—-
Police in Rukungiri is holding a 21 years youth on allegations of
defiling and effecting HIV to a seven years old girl.
Mugabe Godfery a resident of Kyabugashe cell Rushasha parish
Nyakagyeme sub county was arrested on Wednesday 15th February at his
home by a crime preventer one Mugarura Innocent who who took him to
police.
The Officer in charge of crime Intelligence and investigations
department Kasoga Sylivia says that Godfrey is alleged to have defiled
a 7years girl of the same area on the 13th of February.
She says that Investigations have commenced as statements are being recorded.
She adds that preliminary investigations show that the suspect after
arrest was tested and found HIV positive.
“we have tested the suspect and he is positive, so we are putting the
girl on post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) to help the girl not to be
effected , but the challenge we are having is that the medicine works
well before 48 hours elapse which in this case have already elapsed”
she said.
The victim (names withheld) says that she was defiled several times by
the suspect in his house while threatening her.
“she said that he will kill me if I told my grandfather” she said.
Mugarura Innocent, the crime preventer says that she had a bad smell
on the young girl which prompted him to asking and check her only find
her rotting in her private parts.
“I forced her to tell me who had done it after I checked her she was
scared but later told me that she feared not to be killed by the
suspect if she revealed it” he said.
Mugarura adds that the victim who stays with the grandfather had not
known about it.
“the grandfather is 80 years old, he had not detected any thing on his
grand child”.
She warns parents and guardians to keep a keen eye on their girls
against people let it be relatives or friends, because you can never
tell their intentions.
She says that after investigations are done the file will be forwarded
to the DPPs office for guidance as suspect waits to be arraigned in
courts of law.
