UPDF OFFICER SHOT AND INJURED IN BUSHENYI

Police in Bushenyi is investigating circumstances under which a UPDF officer was shot and injured at a popular hangout in Bushenyi town
Corporal Barigye who is attached to 5th Division in Kitgum was shot in an attempt to grab a gun from a police officer attached to Bushenyi police station who was called in to calm the situation after Barigye turned wild and started beating whoever was around that place on the night of Saturday last week
Eye witness say as soon as Barigye entered the spot he started causing chaos among the people who were around and this forced Wilson Karuhanga an NRM chairman for Nyakabiirizi division to call police but Barigye who at that time was extremely drunk tried to resist the arrest holding the gun of the police officer who shot him in the legs injuring him instantly
By press time he was still admitted at kitagata hospital nursing wounds and injuries he sustained. Barigye was found with a gun and other rounds of ammunitions
Martial Tumusiime the Bushenyi police spokesperson confirmed the incident and said as police they are still carrying out investigations how Barigye escaped from his detach in fith division kitgum and also attributed the incidence on the influence of alcohol
