As the nomination committee prepares to sit on April 5th to nominate two names in which a new bishop for west ankole diocese will be elected
Diocesan secretary Rev Arthur Atwiine in an interview with wwwmknewslink.com editor Thursday, said that there is no one supposed to apply for the post like before.
“This time round, the process has changed adding that the committee chaired by Marvin Baryaruha the diocesan chancellor will pick files for the clergy with all the qualities like being above forty five years, a degree in theology and must have served for ten years and then choose two names” Atwiine said.
He also noted that there is no clergy who doesn’t want a promotion therefore, they would imagine that every clergy wants to be a bishop
However some of the clergy we spoke to are not happy with the new procedure saying that the previous one was the best method as it could save time and was free for everyone “why do u short list me when I don’t want participate in the process” one interested contestant wo never wanted to be named told www.mknewslink.com editor
Currently west Ankole diocese does not have a sitting bishop following the retirement of bishop yona mwesigwa katoneene late last year and it is under the archbishop Stanley ntagali
Rev Arthur further said the house of bishops will sit in april 21st to elect the new bishop for west ankole diocese who would be consecrated on the 28th of may this year at Bweranyangi hill
Rev Atwiine confirmed to wwwmknewslink.com editor that this time round, the nominations committee will sit west ankole diocese unlike the last meeting which sat in Kampala and the process was rejected by the house of bishops because of many factors at the time manily raised by the Christians of sheema.
