VALUE ADDITION IS THE WAY TO GO— NTUNGAMO DISTRICT CHAIRMAN ASSURES FARMERS

The Ntungamo district chairman Denis Singahache has urged the general public to engage in business and value addition in order to attain middle income status in 2020.
Singahache said this on Friday 07.04.2017 while opening a sensitization workshop for micro medium enterprises held at Ankole Resort and Spar Ntungamo Municipality.
He advised business community to use commercial officers for technical support if they are to produce quality and standard products.
Singahache revealed that the commercial office has been crippled because it has not been monitored well to perform its duties.
Principal assistant secretary in charge of finance and administration under the Ministry of Trade industry and cooperative Ourien Peter asked district leaders to be keen on the responsibility of commercial officers saying that they are the eyes of the people.
Ourien highlighted the ways to follow for one to be registered and certified for quality products by UNBS but blamed the Ntungamo district commercial office for not performing his duties.
Representative Uganda small scale industries western Uganda Betsigwa Timbyetaho Blason tasked all participants to form groups if they are to get any support from government.
Betsigwa hailed the ministry of trade industry and co-operative in conjunction with Uganda National Bureau of standards noting that it will act as an eye opener on how to produce quality products.
The Mayor Ntungamo Municipality Jacob Kafureeka asked them to join hands together in a bid to improve standards of products and get market locally and internationally.
The workshop attracted over 20 small scale enterprise personnel in Ntungamo district.
