RUKUNGIRI MAN JAILED FOR 7 YEARS OVER CATTLE THEFT

Rukungiri Chief Magistrate’s court has sentenced a 32 year-old man to a seven year imprisonment in government prison after being found guilty of cattle theft.
Nicholas Byamukama yesterday appeared before chief magistrate Julius Borore Kyake where he was convicted on a count of cattle theft
Byamukama is a resident of ekibugo cell Kahoko, nyakagyeme Sub County
Rukungiri District.
Prosecution led by Geoffrey Oundo told court that on 1/5/2017
while at Kaata cell in Rukungiri Byamukama was found selling a cow at shs 600,000 which was valued at 1.2 million; property of Samuel Karekyezi .
Chief magistrate while giving his judgment said prosecution
proved beyond doubt that the accused committed the case.
He said since cattle theft is rampant in the district the sentence will deter other people from committing the same crime.
