In Kasese–

Residents in Kasese district are in fears of rekindle fighting in the district following the shooting of a member of  the Kirumiramutima;an armed group loyal to the King of Rwenzururu; Charlese Wesley Mumbere.

While speaking to www.mknewslink.com today18th August 2017, the UPDF 2^nd Division spokesperson Maj. Peter Mugisa confirmed the killing of Matayo Bwanzire, who was shot dead early today by army officers.

Just two weeks back, a one Mzee Arthur Mbarage; an elder and Councilor of Bwisumbo Sub County was ambushed and stabbed to near death by unknown assailants.

He said the group thought the old man had died, but fortunately he survived and identified some of the attackers as Matayo Bwanzire (the deceased) and one Kule Mawano.

Maj. Mugisa says army officers from the Kasangali Detach waylaid Bwanzire at his house today morning, and when he was ordered to come out of the house, he instead jumped through the window with two knives and grabbed one Private Wycliffe Amanya and stabbed him on the shoulder and head.

In self-defense, Pte Amanya shot him dead.

The incident happened at Kasangali, Ruhara Parish, Bwensumbo Sub County in Busongora North, Kasese district.

Mugisa says the UPDF is aware of the Kirumiramutima group trainings going on in Bunyangabo District. He says the members move at night crossing R. Mubuku to Kasangali to terrorize locals.

“We know their intentions; but our forces are on ground to capture these evil people and bring them to book” he noted

Maj Mugisa assured people of Rwenzori of maximum security and called upon the largely youthful Kirumira Mutima group to stop their illegal activities and surrender to the government security organs.

In Kampala–

Police are hunting for two UPDF men who are suspected to have beaten to death a civilian in Mutungo; a suburb of Kampala.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson; Emilian Kayima, Pte. Rogers Kasigazi and Pte. Shaban Musinguzi fled after beating dead a one Rogers Waisa Tuesday this week.

“The 2 soldiers beat Waisa after accusing him of theft of a bag of cement from a construction site they were guarding,” Kayima said.

“They then brought him to Mutungo Police Post, but were advised to first take him to hospital because he was in bad condition.”

The police mouthpiece said the suspects, however, abandoned Waiswa before reaching the hospital and he was recovered dead.

The body was, after recovery, taken to Mulago hospital for a postmortem report.

“The sticks used to beat him have been recovered at the construction site and kept as exhibits while the hunt for the 2 soldiers has started,” said Kayima.

Kayima also revealed that one Joel Akonyero who had escorted the 2 soldiers has been arrested to assist in investigations.

In Ntungamo–

The Ntungamo District health officer Dr. Richard Bakamuturaki has threatened to resign over unfriendly working conditions.

In a copy of leave of absence letter dated August 12, 2017 addressed to Chief Administrative officer Kweyamba Ruhemba,Dr. Bakamuturaki cited some anonymous challenges he faces while executing his duties  and informing the office of the CAO to step down effect from Monday 14^th August 2017.

According to sources Dr.Bakamuturaki had exchanged biter words with Ruhemba over the health department vehicle after suspending it’s driver Godfery Tumusiime over dress code recently.

This prompted him to write resignation letter where by fellow workers heard him saying that since the new CAO came into the district, the employers have been working under pressure and this will not be tolerated.

So far 6 employers been suspended over dress code and these include; Godfery Tumusiime; a driver in health department, Alex Ashaba; driver in production, Robert Muhwezi; a biostatician, Johnson Ahabwe; statician,  Rogers Kiziito; chain assistant and Felix Barugahare.
