KARYEIJA SUPPORTERS REMANDED IN MITOOMA PRISON

In Mitooma—
Five men were yesterday paraded before Mitooma Grade One Magistrate’s court and remanded in government prison for allegedly inciting violence.
Court presided over by His worship Gordon Muhimbise heard that on 21st day of August 2017 while in Mitooma district, the men attempted to close the RDC’s office and camped at the district headquarters with an intention to incite violence.
Appearing before court, the suspects denied the charges thus prompting the presiding magistrate to send them on remand until their case will come up again for mention.
It is alleged that the suspects were part of Karyeija supporters who on Monday pitched a camp at the district headquarters in protest of order that was issued to block Benon Karyeija from occupying his office.
Karyeija who is the Mitooma district chairman was last month censured by his councilors for allegedly abusing his office.
He secured court order authorizing him to re-occupy his office which prompted the councilors to petition the court of appeal challenging the high court order.
The court of appeal issued an order, stopping Karyeija from using the district chairman’s office until his high court case is disposed.
