In Bushenyi–

Police in Bushenyi district is still deployed at the Igara west MP Raphael Magyezi’s home and political office in Kyamuhunga sub-county.

Following the Thursday aborted protest codenamed Kogikwatako against Magyezi in Butare Kyamuhunga by his constituents, police continue to guard both home and office of the controversial legislator who is championing plans to delete presidential age limit from the constitution of Uganda.

Talking to www.mknewslink.com editors this morning, the Regional Police Commander  for Greater Bushenyi’Eddie Serunjoji confirmed the presence of security personnel at the home and office of Hon.Magyezi.

He says the police deployment is intended to quell any attack against the embattled legislator’s property.

On Thursday 21^st Sept.2017 angry residents of Igara west constituent organized a surprise demonstration in Butare trading centre Kyamuhunga town council near Magyezi’s offices to express their anger with their MP whom they accused of being a traitor and self seeker.

Magyezi was set to table the controversial Bill targeting to remove presidential age limit but he was forced not to table it as the both NRM and opposition MPs refused to deliberate, pointing to deployment of security personnel at the parliament as an excuse.

Similar protests had broken out in different parts of the country, opposing the plans to delete article 102 of the 1995 Uganda’s constitution.www.mknewslink.com can confirm.

The article considers any Ugandan above 75 year of age not legible to compete for any elective position.

If the article 102 is amended, president Museveni who will have clocked 75 years of age in 2021 will again contest for a sixth term in the highest office.

In Kabale

A total of 2,291 pupils of the 5,104 pupils who registered for the 2017 Kabale district primary joint mock including the newly created Rukiga district are ungraded.

According to the Kabale district education officer Kenneth Sabiiti Baabo, out of the 5104 pupils from the two districts of Kabale and Rukiga, only 126 pupils secured division One,  900 pupils are in division II, 703 pupils in division III, 949 in division IV,     2291 students ungraded while 135 never turned up for the examination.

Baabo added that parents must cooperate with district authorities in uplifting the education sector in the district so that every child accesses education and is catered for to do any exams and to pass.

Speaking during the handover of the results, an occasion held at Kabale district Rukiiko hall at Makanga hill Kabale municipality, the Kabale district LC5 Chairperson, Patrick Besigye Keihwa who was the chief guest attributed poor performance by some learners to continued cases of students’ absenteeism by parents at the expense of attending to family cores.

He added that parents have to embrace education if they are to realize its role in the development of any community. Keihwa also encouraged teachers to always be research full in order to equip the learners with new and correct content for their academic excellence.
