MINISTER ECHWERU RUSHES TO RUBANDA DISTRICT AS 15 PEOPLE ARE KILLED BY FLOODS

in Rubanda district—
State minister for disaster preparedness Musa Echweru yesterday spent
all the time in Muko Sub County Rubanda district attending various
burial ceremonies of people who were killed by floods three days ago.
Death toll caused by violent Floods which also destroyed Vehicles,
houses, roads, and crops has risen to 15 people.
Echweru gave each bereaved family 300 kgms of maize flour and also
promised to provide 7.500.000 million shillings to purchase coffins for
the 15 dead persons.
Maize flour is part of the 25 tones the government gave to people in
Muko Sub County as emergency relief food after the floods devastated
the area.
He said very soon government will come up with a strategy of helping
people practice better methods of Agriculture like terracing on hilly
areas to avoid
experiencing similar calamity in future.
