They had burns on their body while two had breathing complications as a result of suffocation according to medics.
The Ntungamo district police commander Geofrey Orochi said the fire began at around midnight after students had threatened to strike cutting off the entire power supply of the school protesting being locked from inside the dormitories by school security guards.
The burnt dormitory houses mainly students from S.4 who are about to do their exams. There are 29 triple Decker beds in the dormitory.
The students claim the security guards had locked the dormitories from outside to prevent them access classrooms for reading.
In protest students started the fire using petrol so that they burn themselves from inside the dormitories and die other than being held hostage.
A security guard at the school confirmed that the school administration instructed them at the beginning of the term to lock the girl students from outside their hostel and also close the gate to their dormitories as they used to escape at night
The school headmaster Mr. Boaz Ruyimbazi refused to talk to www.mknewslink.com reporter in the area saying he was still in shock and could not talk to anyone.
The school Director and Electoral commission Commissioner Mr. Steven Tashobya said the administration was putting things to normal and investigating the security leakages that may have caused the fire
