WE WANT TO KNOW WHETHER PRESIDENT MUSEVENI IS NUMBER ONE BENEFICIARY OF AGE LIMIT–BUSHENYI LEADERS DEMAND

Bushenyi district leaders have tasked the NRM Secretariat representative; James Tweheyo to explain if president Museveni is behind the controversial age limit bill that intends to delete Article 102(b) from the constitution of Uganda.

Tweheyo who represented the NRM national chairman in the consultative meeting on Age limit bill in Bushenyi district yesterday, he was disappointed when the district secretary General;Umaru Muhanguzi challenged him to tell the audience if president Museveni is behind the contentious bill seeking to remove presidential age limit.
Muhanguzi further said that unless the local leaders know if Museveni is behind the contentious bill, they cannot debate it.
When Tweheyo dodged the question, the question, the local leaders who were in the multipurpose hall suggested that another date be set for the whole voters to come and give their views on the controversial bill.
Tweheyo told the leaders that they were entitled to a transport refund of sh.30,000 which they shouted in protest against the offer, saying it was too little. They instead demanded sh.50,000 before they were convinced and accepted the offer.
The meeting which was attended by all LC3 chairpersons from all divisions of Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality ended at 7; 00PM with a resolution that another meeting be held at the district headquarters where all voters will come and meet their MPs to give them their views on the age limit bill.
The general consultative meeting on the age limit bill is scheduled for Wednesday Nov.8, 2017 at Bushenyi district headquarters.
However, local councilors from Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality have rejected their area MP Hon.Gordon Arinda Cowboy’s proposal to have a joint meeting with other constituencies at the district headquarters.
In a letter dated Nov.6,2017 addressed to MP Arinda the speaker Nyakabirizi division;Mackay Twijukye says the councilors will not attend the joint meeting since the MPs are facilitated to hold meetings in every village to enable all voters give their views on the age limit bill.
