In Masindi—

Masindi municipal council town clerk, Deo Ndimo, has been transferred
to Fort-Portal municipality after a long standoff between him and
municipal councilors.
Ndimo has been in bad terms with the mayor Masindi municipality

Joab Businge and the councilors for over one and a half years.
The mayor and the councilors accused Ndimo of crippling

service delivery in the municipality. They also accused him
of failure to implement council resolutions.

Ismail Irumba Haruna; the chairperson social services committee also accuses Mr. Ndimo of failure to motivate the staff, to buy newspapers in the library for three months, maintain the vehicles and
to pay the contractors an act that annoyed the
councilors.
On the 26th October, 2017 the mayor and the members of the executive

locked Ndimo in his office after having a heated meeting.
He was rescued by the police who whisked him away.
On Wednesday this week Masindi municipal council passed a resolution
rejecting Ndimo as their town clerk thus demanding
for his transfe.
The situation comes at time vendors in Masindi are grappling with the
increasing garbage in Masindi main central market.

Mean while Bushenyi-Ishaka town clerk;Paul Batanda has been transferred to Mbale municipality whereas his deputy;Fednand Katunda Mukuru has been promoted to full town clerk and posted to Bugiri Municipality.

In Rukungiri–

The Member parliament for Rubabo county in Rukungiri district; Hon. Marry Paula Turyahikayo has expressed her concern over the continued sale of pieces of land that has resulted into house hold famine in Nyakishenyi sub county.

Hon. Marry Paula Turyahikayo said that the increased continued sale of land by the poor people to the rich has created more poverty and famine in households because there can’t be production of food.

The legislator said this yesterday at kiganda primary school in Nyakishenyi Sub County during her last consultative meeting about the constitutional amendment of article 102(b) that seeks the removal of presidential age limit.

Hon. Marry Paula Turyahikayo cautioned the people of Nyakishenyi to stop selling their land if they are to fight rampant biting poverty in the sub county.

Nyakishenyi Sub County was one of the sub counties in Rukungiri district that was ravaged by famine in the last few months.

She consulted all 35 parishes within Rubabo County Rukungiri district where she assured the electorates that she will take their views concerning the presidential age limit bill.

In Mbarara–

The Mbarara municipal mayor; Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi has called for reconciliation between two groups of councilors if they are to work for betterment of their town.

 The Mbarara municipal councilors are divided into two groups, one linked to the former mayor; Wilson Tumwine and the other to Kakyebezi.

The divisionism in Mbarara municipal council has caused continuous fights among the councilors.

Incumbent councilors who appear to be allegiant to Wilson Tumwiine are fighting against their new counterparts who are allegiant to Kakyebezi.

 Kayebezi’s group accuses Wilson Tumwiine of grabbing the public land at Nyamityobora during his office tenure which attracted the Bamugemereire commission to sit in Mbarara and quiz the former mayor over the land acquisition.

Amos Katureebe, a municipal councilor was recently attacked by unidentified people at his home who poured acid on his body leaving him in grave pain. He is now admitted in one of Kampala hospitals.

In Kampala/Bushenyi–

The court of Appeal in Kampala has today dismissed an election petition that was file by Hon.Odo Tayebwa against the MP for Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality; Godorn Arinda Cow boy challenging his election.

In his petition, Tayebwa says Cowboy bribed voters during the 2016 parliamentary election arguing that the election was marred by bribery.

Tayebwa petitioned High court in Mbarara challenging Cowboy’s election but his case was dismissed with costs on ground that it lacked supporting evidence.

He further appealed in court of Appeal still challenging Cowboy’s election and today three judges including Bamugemereire and Richard Buteera agreed with the high court judgement and dismissed the petition on grounds that it still lacked the evidence.

When www.mknewslink.com managing editor contacted Cowboy shortly after the judgment, he said he is happy and what the court did was overdue.

The king of Bunyoro Kitara kingdom, Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, has named

three kids at Kakumiro health centre IV in Kakumiro district.
Iguru performed the function while going to launch the CNOOC amsaza
cup organized by CNOOC Uganda limited at Kaumiro primary school on Thursday evening.
Before reaching Kakumiro primary school playground, he made a

stopover at the health facility and named the kids who were born that
night. The two baby boys were named Kamukama Solomon and the baby girl was named Margareta Karungi.
He also donated mosquito nets to mothers who were in the maternity
ward by that time.
In his speech, Solomon Iguru thanked the health workers of Kakumiro

health Centre IV for not joining the ongoing Doctors’ strike.
He urged the doctors not to punish the innocent people saying that the
ongoing strike has left many people dead and others suffering hence
calling upon the medics to use amicable ways to solve their empathy.

Robert Ssenteza, the acting District health officer Kakumiri district,used the same opportunity and demanded for the expansion of Kakumiro
health centre IV and the establishment of staff quarters noting that
the absence of staff quarters affects the quick response to the
emergencies at night.

King Solomon also launched CNOOC Amasaza cup where all counties of the seven districts in Bunyoro will participate.100 million shillings have been injected in by CNOOC Uganda limited an oil exploration company in Bunyoro to drive the activity.

According to Aminah Bukenya, the communication supervisor, CNNOC

Uganda limited, 15 teams will participate in the tournament adding
that they are supporting the tournament with the aim of advancing the
glory and culture of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom through sports in the
region.

President Museveni has questioned the decision by the medical doctors to lay down their tools thus warning that they will regret their actions.

He warned that they risk being sacked if they continue with the strike and new doctors recruited.

Addressing a rally at Karambi Play Ground in Burahya County yesterday;Nov. 17, 2017,  Museveni said that he had been betrayed by the actions of the medical doctors.

He noted that the Uganda People’s Defence Force-UPDF soldiers are poorly paid but have never gone on strike.

Museveni said that he had hoped the doctors will remain patient until the outcome  of the salary review committee which is currently scrutinizing the salary of civil servants.

The strike by the doctors entered the second week. They are demanding for a salary increment.

Museveni said that the government’s priority has been improving infrastructure and extending electricity. He said that they should have been patient like the army, which he says are paid peanuts, but they don’t strike.

Museveni also decried the salary disparity at the Kampala Capital City Authority. He cited an example of a cleaner at the authority who earns more than other workers.

President Museveni also directed the Ministry of Information and Resident District Commissioners to close down radio stations that he said peddle lies about the NRM government. He said that the RDCs should monitor and ensure that the radio promote government programs.

He also said that it’s not an obligation but a duty for the radio stations to broadcast facts.
