The president of the republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has finally intervened into the controversial leasing of 20 crater lakes in different sub counties to FERDSULT engineering company by Kabarole district.

On Friday last week a delegation of 12 people including the fishing community surrounding crater lakes,FERDSULT engineering company ,RDC and the chairperson Kabarole Richard Rwabuhinga were summoned to state house by the president to put a way forwarded on misunderstandings between fishermen and FERDSULT company.

According to the reliable sources, the president after listening to both sides promised to come himself to Kabarole and meat the fishermen.

Meanwhile some of the fishermen who went to state house are disappointed with the chairperson LC5 for selecting fake leaders to represent them whom they claim had no knowledge about the creator lake matters.

The fishermen disclosed that they were first denied to enter the state house only to be told that they were not on the invitation list by the state security.

During consultative tour by the president on the amendment of article 26 of the land act president Museven while in Fort portal asked the chairperson LC5 Richard Rwabuhinga to lead a delegation to state house so that he can look into the matter.

In 2015 Kabarole district local government and Ferdsult Engineering Company entered into an agreement. Ferdsult was to restock fish in 20 crater lakes in the district.

However, Twerwaheno Listeners Club, a human rights organization based in Fort Portal and six residents surrounding crater lakes in the district sued Kabarole district, the Attorney General and Ferdsult over the deal.

In June, Fort Portal Resident Judge Anthony Ojok Ayuko, cancelled the MOU on grounds that the consultations with the fishermen were not exhaustive. Ferdsult has since appealed against the ruling.

IGP Kale Kayihura has disclosed that criminal investigations
department (CID) is failing to exploit places of the scenes of crime
due to lack of forensic specialists in the force.

He said this remains a challenge and a reason why crimes are on the
increase in the country because prosecuting officials cannot
successfully prosecute suspects using scientific based evidence.

Speaking during the launch of a Forensic science training Institute at
Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) Kayihura said the
force is now in need of 2000 fully trained scenes of crime officers
and 360 forensic specialists who will properly analyze samples
collected at any scene of crime for the police to have a breakthrough
in identifying real people involved in committing crimes.

He promised to help MUST to speed up the forensic science training
programs so that the urgently needed forensic specialists in the
entire region are recruited from its products in order to strengthen
the criminal justice system in the east, central and in the horn of
Africa.

The IGP said all Police in the region appreciates that there is need
to invest in science and technology which will save police from
inconvenience of taking samples for analyses in South Africa, UK and
Israel in future.

Kayihura also promised to use MUST experts as consultants in procuring
any scientific equipment to avoid being misled by vendors who usually
make them end up procuring wrong equipment’s or sometimes right
equipment’s but at high price..

On 30TH November 2017 MUST signed a Memorandum of Understanding with
Cukorova University of Turkey to enter in partnership to develop
forensic sciences training as well as designing different research
projects and curriculum

Forensic biology, toxicology, pathology, anthropology and medical
legal investigations are some of the listed programs the forensic
science training institute is going to offer.

Prof. Celestino Obua the Vice Chancellor MUST called on experts in
chemical, toxicology, IT and social science people to work together
and develop the forensic science training curriculum that will stand a
test of time

Police in Rubanda district is investigating the circumstances under which a man in his 20’ allegedly committed suicide.

The deceased is Timothy Akampurira a resident of Rwere village Muyanje parish Bubare Sub County in Rubanda district.

It’s alleged that Akampurira who has been a teacher in Mbarara district hanged himself yesterday at around 03pm with a rope in his father’s extension house at Rwere after he had come from Mbarara three days back.

It’s alleged that the deceased remained home washing clothes as others went for prayers, only to find him hanging dead for yet unknown reason.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson confirms the incident saying that police was notified, visited the scene, and inquiries to get the real cause is going on and the case has been registered at Bubaare police post under reference number Bubare SD 6/3/12/2017.
