In Ibanda—-
Over 25 nurses, Midwives and medical officers who are working at Ruhoko Health Centre IV, Bufunda Health Centre III, Nyamirima health centre 111 in Ibanda Municipality are on sit down strike, following what they have called Ibanda Municipality’s failure to sort out their issues, concerning salaries and allowances.
The workers insist that they want their money to be paid as most them have children at school and the year is almost coming to an end.
Last week, the workers dragged the Ibanda Municipal Personnel Officer, Mr.Ambrose Mwesigye to the office of Resident District Commissioner and Chief Administrative officer, complaining and accusing him that, he has been paying them half salary, since the municipality became functional in July last year. They noted that the authorities of the municipal council have failed to honour by paying their allowances.
They told the www.mknewslink.com reporter that they have been forced to lay down their tools, until their issues are sorted out by management.
The Chief Administrator Officer Mr. Robert Abenaitwe when contacted for comment to day confirmed having received the health workers complaints, adding that a mediation process is going on between the nurses, midwives and medical officers and his office..
However, the Resident District Commissioner Mr.Eliasto Akatuheebwa says, some of the complants originate from the finance ministry not the personnel officer himself as workers alleged.
The chief administration officer Mr. Abenaitwe appeals the affected medics team to resume work, while their issues are being considered by the management and the ministry of Finance.
