Three people were today morning reported dead after an accident involving a Kasaba Bus that overturned at Kageti in Kiruhura district on the Mbarara-Kampala highway.

According to SSP.Kasasira; the Rwizi region police spokesperson, one of the dead was an adult.

“The bus was from Rukungiri district heading to Kampala. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it ended up overturning, leading to the fatal accident,” Kasasira said.

He said eight of the passengers who sustained serious injuries were rushed to Lyantonde Hospital and 15 to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.

The Police is hunting down the driver, who remains at large, to help in investigations.

Kasasira cautioned bus owners to have sensitisation sessions with their drivers, especially on speed driving.

He said many accidents are caused by over speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and some drivers being overworked.

Bunyoro’s prime minister knfed
The Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom; Solomon Iguru Gafabusa has dissolved his entire cabinet and appointed Andrew Byakutaga, former commissioner customs at Uganda Revenue Authority as the new Kingdom Prime Minister.

Byakutaga has replaced Mr. Norman Lukumu who has served as the prime minister since March 2015.

In the reshuffle which was announced by Omukama’s Principle private
secretary; Richard Katahimbwa at Karuziika palace yesterday morning,
the Omukama also instituted three task forces comprised of seven
members mandated to develop a 30 year kingdom strategic development
plan.

Those appointed on the committees include Edgar Isingoma; a partner in KPMG a reputable Global audit firm as the chairman while Prof.Vincent
Bagire; a lecturer at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Dr.
Silvestre Kugonza a lecturer at Uganda Management Institute, Dr. Fred
Muhumuza a lecturer of Economics at Makerere University, Abdul
Byakagaba a petroleum geologist and Patrick Byabakama Kaberenge as
members.

According to the communication, the committee has four months to set
up management structures and more others will be selected to handle
specific tasks.
Omukama also retired the chairman of the kingdom land board, Tadeo
Asaba. His majesty commended the retired kingdom officers for the work done saying he had not sacked them.
“The new Prime Minister is to work with the royal commission to
appoint new cabinet members after putting in place systems” reads part of the Omukama’s communication.
This comes after the king mid last year appointed a seven member royal
commission to oversee kingdom amidst serious allegations of
mismanagement of the institutions property including sale of Kinyara
Sugar factory shares and chunks of land among others.

The former FDC president Musgisha Muntu has launched his second national wide consultative meeting in the six districts that make up Toro region including Kabarole,Bundibugyo, Kyegegwa, Ntoroko, Kamwenge,Bunyangabu and Kyenjojo.

According to Muntu, the consultative meetings are aimed at the current and historical perspective of the mult-party politics in Uganda.

In the meeting attended by all parties, FDC, NRM, DP and independents,a speaker after speaker urged Muntu to form his own political party which can allow him to stand for presidency come 2023.

The people who looked to be disappointed, said that they not happy the way how FDC party leaders are running the party. The angry people said that Muntu should be on the presidential ballot paper if not they will be forced to move out from FDC.

In his response angrily Muntu said that he will make his final decision after his country wide consultative meetings.
However Muntu added that he will be forced to make a decision if FDC members fail to solve internal misunderstandings and promote unity.

Gen.Mugisha Muntu lost the hot contested FDC presidential elections to former Kumi Mp Patrick Oboi Amuriat.
During the highly divisive poll, Amuriat appeared along with former presidential candidate; Dr. Kiiza Besigye at various campaign rallies and meetings.
