In Kampala–
The Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has asked the government and parliament to investigate the dealings between Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura and a local motorcycle operators association; Boda Boda 2010 that has been terrorizing residents in Kampala.
The call comes after the leader of the Association; Abudallah Kitatta and about 27 others were arrested by the operatives of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) over the alleged murder the Case Hospital accountant Francis Ekalungar.
Addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Najjanakumbi, Kampala today, the party spokesperson; Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda said members of the embattled Boda Boda 2010 have been engaging in the works of police and beating up innocent people and torturing fellow cyclists as police were watching.
He said that Gen. Kayihura must resign over his dealings with a group he described as criminals.
“The Boda Boda 2010 Association has been claiming to be working with police and so if the leader of the Association has been arrested over suspected murder, it is an indication that police which is headed by Gen. Kayihura has been protecting a murder suspect yet police was supposed to arrest him and not military. So I ask the military which arrested those goons in 2010 to also arrest Gen. Kayihura,” Mr Ssemujju charged.
