Police in Rubanda District is investigating the circumstance under which a 36 year old man is alleged to have committed suicide.
Herbert Turyamureeba a resident of Rutooma village, Mpungu parish, Hamurwa Sub County was yesterday found hanging dead in his sitting room after he was alleged to have chased away his wife and children from home few days back.
He was discovered by the herdsmen from his mother’s place in the neighborhood who had gone there to check on him after spending the whole morning of yesterday without seeing him.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate has confirmed the incident saying that the deceased could have hanged himself in the night of Saturday.
Maate adds that police visited the scene and the case has been registered at Rubanda police station under reference number SD 13/04/02/2018 as investigations are going on, he advised people to always visit relevant offices for advice than taking their lives which can’t give a solution only to leave other family members in misery.

There was chaos today morning at Ikoba Girls’ primary school in Masindi District when the outgoing head teacher; Jolly Atugonza refused to hand over office to the incoming head teacher; Elizabeth Nyamahunge.

The act angered more than 50 parents who had gathered at the school campus to welcome the new head teacher and threatened to throw Atugonza out of office.

Atugonza refused to hand over the office, claiming that she had a letter
from the bishop of Masindi-Kitara Diocese directing her not to leave
the school.

This called for police intervention who caused an impromptu meeting between the two head teachers and the chairman Parents Teachers’Association (PTA), Estone Nyakoojo to discuss the matter.

After the meeting, the officer in charge of Bujenje police post, Polly
Kawaga calmed the irate parents and Nyakoojo told them that they
agreed that the two head teachers go back to the appointing authority
to solve the impasse.

In the meeting it was agreed that the deputy head teacher should
take charge of the school.

Some parents who talked to this www.mknewslink.com reporter said they wanted Atugonza transferred to another school, accusing her of fettering the school for more than 10 years she has spent at the school.

Last week the Bishop masindi Kitara dioceses accused the Chief
Administrative officer masindi and the education department of
transferring head teachers without consulting the foundation bodies.

Most of schools across Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality have experienced early low turn up of students as the first term of the 2018 academic year opens today cross the country.

However, most schools are busy registering new entrants mostly in nursery section, others from Primary one up to Primary Six as well as Senior two to Senior three.
Most head teachers were found busy registering new entrants hoping this will change within this week.
Some parents say the timing of the start of the term is bad because parents rely on salaries and with the festive season they had, it was difficult to save for school fees.

A random survey conducted shows that many parents had not accessed financial institutions such as banks during the weekend as they were closed.

Long queues have been observed inside most Banks in Ishaka town as Parents and students earlier in the morning thronged them to deposit school fees.

These were obseved inside and outside Stanbic Banck Ishaka Branch, Centenary Bank Ishaka branch, Finance Trust Bank Ishaka branch and Kyamuhunga people’s Saco Ishaka branch as well.

However at UGAFODE, Pride Microfinance, and DFCU Ishaka branches it has been business as Usual.

Sylvester Tumwesigye, the acting branch manager Finance Trust Bank Ishaka branch has said parents and students of schools registered with them were already in the queue by 8:30am.

He added that the number of clients increased from 300 on normal days to around 500.

Most schools registered with Finance Trust Bank include Ishaka Town School, Paramount Secondary School, Ishaka preparatory School and Crane Vocational Institute.

Asked whether they have a reserved easing place for customers, Tumwesigye said unlike other banks, Finance Trust Bank has designated washroom for clients.

Pertaining transport fares, transporters have increased by 2000 and 1000.

From Ishaka to Mbarara it is now Shs.6000 from Shs.5000, Ishaka to Kasese Shs.12000 from Shs.10,000, Ishaka to Rukungiri Shs.10000 from 8000.

Police have arrested Godfrey Wamala, 28, the key suspect in the murder of singer Moses Ssekibogo also known as Mowzey Radio.
Radio died on Thursday morning at Case hospital where he had been admitted following a bar fight at De Bar, a popular hangout in Entebbe on January 22.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the arrest of Wamala on Sunday night.
“Following a tip off to police, our operatives swung into action arresting Wamala from Kyengera, Wakiso district,” Owoyesigyire told this website.
“On interrogation, he confessed that two days after the incident, he sought refuge at his friend’s house in Kyengera.”
Speaking to mourners on Saturday, Mowzey Radio’s mother asked police and other authorities to ensure the killers of her son are arrested and face the wrath of the law.
In his message read by the state minister for tourism, president Yoweri Museveni assured mourners that no stone would be left unturned in government’s efforts to have the killers apprehended and brought to book.
The arrest of Wamala brings the total number of suspects in police custody over the murder of the Neera singer to three, following the earlier arrest of George Egesa and Xavier Lukere.
“The file had been sent to the Resident State Attorney for perusal and advice but we hope they will be arraigned before court this week after the arrest of the key suspect, “Owoyesigyire told www.mknewslink.com
He noted that the suspect has been transferred to Entebbe from where the crime was committed.
Mowzey Radio was laid to rest on Saturday at Kaga, Nakawuka in Wakiso district.
