MINISTER KAROORO INTRODUCES VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM

The Minister for general duties in the office of the Prime Minister
also Bushenyi district woman Member of Parliament; Hon. Mary Karooro Busingye Okurut has introduced a vocational training program for unemployed girls with an intention of curbing out unskilled youth within Bushenyi district.
Speaking yesterday during a meeting with women councilors and other
leaders at the district council hall, Karooro noted that girls will be
trained with skills in different short courses like cookery, saloon,
and bread baking among others.
She explained that many youths have graduated but are on street
unemployed due to lack of vocational skills.
Karoro added that when a girl has no side incomes, increases chances
for being exploited are high because men will quickly persuade her
with little gifts.
The meeting was held in preparation to celebrate women’s day.
This year’s national celebrations will be held in Mityana district
under the scheme “empowering rural women, girl and opportunity
challenge in the country.
