The Rukungiri grade one magistrate Andrew Katuburiki has adjourned the case in which the four time presidential aspirant Dr. Con Kiiza
Besigye to 12/4/2018.
Dr. Con Kiiza Besigye was charged with others; the FDC party president
Patrick Amoriati Oboi, FDC secretary for Mobilization Ingrid Turinawe,
Rukungiri municipality councilor Innocent Tashobya, Joseph Akankwasta, Bamuhangire and Darius Tweyambe, Fred Asiimwe; all FDC activists.
They were charged with two counts of inciting violence, malicious
damage to property and disobedience of statutory duty and it is
alleged that the 8 committed the offences on 18 Oct 2018 while in
Rukungiri rallying for the FDC party president Patrick Amoriati Oboi.

The accused through their lawyer Mark Mwesigye, today asked court to
adjourn the case on ground that A1 Dr. Col. Kiiza Besigye was not in
court today.
However the senior state attorney Rukungiri Charles Muhereza asked
court to write a criminal summons to Dr. Con Kiiza Besigye to appear
before court on the day of hearing.
Andrew Katuburiki adjourned the case to to12/4/ 2018 on grounds that chief magistrate Julius Borore Kyaka who was supposed to hear the case was absent.

In Hoima

Eight people have been confirmed dead and over 300 are hospitalized at
isolation centres that have been set up following a suspected cholera
outbreak in Hoima district.
The latest outbreak has been reported in Rwenyawawa village in
Kyangwali Sub-County and Sebigoro landing site in Kabwoya Sub County where Congolese refugees are settled.
The affected areas are a host to thousands of refugees from DR Congo who fled tribal clashes between the Lendu and Bagegere in Ituri province in the eastern part of the country.
The violence has allegedly forced over 20,000 Congolese to flee into
the neighboring Uganda since early December last year via Lake Albert.

Dr. Fred Kugonza; the Hoima District Disease Surveillance Officer, on
Monday said in a phone interview with www.mknewslinkcom that all the deceased were children below five years. He added that among a total of 119 children are among the cholera patients admitted in different health units.
Dr.Kugonza said the deceased died following episodes of diarrhea and vomiting coupled with high fever believed to be signs of cholera.
He added that as part of the intervention isolation centres have been
set up at Rwenyawawa village in Kyangwali sub-county and another one
at Sebigoro landing site in Kabwoya sub-counties along Lake Albert in
Hoima district.

Kugonza said some samples from patients diagnosed with acute diarrhea
have been sent to Central Public Health Laboratory in Kampala for
testing.
The Hoima Resident District Commissioner (RDC), John Steven Ekoom has advised residents to observe personal hygiene and embrace the use of pit latrines.
He blamed the outbreak to the poor sanitation conditions at the
refugee settlement camps. He warned that the situation might become
worse when it rains.
Cholera is an acute infectious disease, usually shared through the
consumption of contaminated food and water, which can potentially
prove fatal. Sufferers endure symptoms that include acute watery
diarrhea and vomiting.

The LCV chairman Bushenyi district; Jafari Basajabalaba has launched NSSF customer connect week at TUZZA hotel in Bushenyi town warning employers who deduct money from their employees’ salaries and fail to remit it to the NSSF.

NSSF Customer connect week is celebrated annually whereby the organization meets it’s customers and share ideas concerning their services.
While speaking at the launch last evening, Basajabalaba strongly warned employers against failing to remit their employees’ monthly contributions to the NSSF arguing that it tantamount to theft.

He urged the entire working community to save with the NSSF if they are to have good future after their retirement.

The NSSF regional manager; Horace Rwakabureeta appealed to the entire working community to entrust their savings with the NSSF since it is the only safe custody of their savings.

Rwakabureeta revealed that the NSSF collects 80 billion shillings monthly in addition to assets worth 8.3 trillion shillings.
