In Ibanda
Two people have been confirmed dead while twenty five were rushed to hospital while in critical conditions today.
The Rwizi Traffic Officer, Justine Opus confirmed that Baby Coach Bus Reg. No. UAR 296 J Buses which was carrying Refugees from Kisoro district to Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement at around 10.30 am over turned along on Mbarara –Ibanda road at a place called Kirimirire near Ruhoko Trading center.
He said tha the driver who has tried to avoid knocking a Bodaboda rider, only for the Bus to overturn leaving two juveniles dead.
The dead were children aged between six and eight years.
Mr. Opus said the injured people were rushed to Ruhoko Health Center 1V and Ibanda Hospital while those in critical conditions were rushed to Mbarara referral hospital in the vehicles of UNHCR that have been escorting the refugees.
The bus which involved in accident was the last of ten buses which were carrying refugees from Kisoro to Rwamwanja.
However, according to police, the death toll is likely to rise.

In Rukungiri

Police in Rukungiri district are investigating circumstances under which a 23 years old man was murdered by unknown assailants

Bernard Barugahare a resident of Rukiri cell, Kyamakanda parish Buyanja sub county Rukungiri district was murdered and his body dumprd at Rwamuhima swamp in Rwamuhima cell Kyamakanda parish on 2nd may 2018 at around 9:00pm.

The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate said that Barugahare
was lastly seen at Omukarere trading centre somehow drunk and the body
was discovered with multiple injuries especially on the head.

He said that police removed the body and was taken to Rwakabengo health centre mortuary where postmortem was done and body handed to relatives for burial.

Maate added that inquiries are underway and the case has been
registered at Rukungiri police station under file number CRB 542/2018.

In Masindi
Godfrey Ogwang Okello, the chief administrative officer,Pakwach district was arrested over failure to pay court costs amounting toUGx 43 million.
Ogwang was arrested on Wednesday 2nd May 2018 in Masindi town by police and the court bailiffs on orders of the Masindi high court deputy registrar, Simon Kintu Zirintusa, who issued the warrant of arrest on the 25th of April 2018.

Ssansa Nalubega, dragged Godfrey Ogwang the former CAO Kiryandongo district and Kiryandongo district local government to Masindi high court in 2012 accusing them of wrongful interdiction.
Nalubega told mknewslink.com that she was interdicted from the position of town clerk of Bweyale town council when Ogwang was working as the chief administrative officer Kiryandongo district.

Nalubega said that in 2012 court ruled in her favor and ordered Ogwang to pay her Ug shs 43M but she has never been paid.

In Rubanda

The Rubanda district Chairman Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema has decried the increasing encroachment on district land by residents.
Biryabarema, who was giving the state of district address yesterday 2nd May 2, 2018 at the district Rukiiko hall, said that various pieces of land located in different parts of the district as per the inventory prepared by Adios Kyomukama the Natural resources officer Kabale district on 24th March 2015, most of them have been encroached on by people.
Biryabarema, cited the 20 acres Kakima public land located at Mukotojo village in Ikumba sub county Rubanda district, which has been encroached on by a family without informing the district leaders.
He also cited 30 acres of land located the Rubanda town council that were acquired by private person and he said that as district they are investigating the matter to establish the process through which the private developer passed through to acquire the land.
He thus urged those interested in using the district land to follow the right procedures other than encroaching illegally.
Biryabarema also revealed Islamic Development Bank is to fund Nyamasizi-Nyakanengo-Kashongati in Nyamweru Sub County, Mukigwa-Nyamabaale-Bulimbe and Ikumba health centre III in ikumba Sub County and Kabale-Kagarama-Hakakomo-Kengoma and Kitagyenda primary school-Akambeho trading centre for rural electrification agency in the next financial year.
